Microwave Dissipation and the Structure of the Vortex Lattice in Bi2Sr2CaCu2O8+δ Single Crystalswith straight effective cores parallel to the applied field. We analyse the change from the latter to the former configuration (the so-called lock-in transition) and demonstrate that it occurs through for an intermediate state involving Josephson strings which connect two-dimensional vortices.
