Intermetallic Materials,ure that is ordered up to, or close to, the melting point. Intermetal- lics generally have high melting points and high resistance to deformation — this leads to the potential for high temperature capability which has motivated much of the recent work.

Cermets,he hardness of ceramics and the toughness of metals. The major high temperature applications of cermets include cemented carbides for cutting tools and high temperature wear resistant coatings. Cermets are not normally considered for structural applications because the strength of the metal/ceramic bond is inadequate.
