A Formal Model of Maps as a Fundamental Type,This chapter reviews the algebra defining the traditional spatial types, their operations, and topological predicates. This algebra forms the foundation of spatial data processing using vector data and is also used as the foundation for the Map Framework. Finally, the formal model of maps is developed.
