Safety of LITerse effects of LIT in more than 3000 patients showed no acute allergic reactions (anaphylaxis) or increased incidence of autoimmunity or graft versus host disease. Local side effects in the form of bluish-reddish spots and skin rashes were seen in around 8% of patients. LIT is therefore a low-risk and safe procedure.

Cochrane Reviews and LIT concluded that LIT has no beneficial effect on prevention of miscarriage and increase in the live births in these clinical conditions. Subsequent studies have pointed out the flaws in these Cochrane reviews. The objections raised by different researchers and their recommendations to correct these deficiencies are discussed in this chapter.

Recent Meta-Analyses and LITyses (Liu et al. and Cavalcante et al.), that included newer studies along with the studies in the Cochrane reviews, showed a significantly high odds ratio, proving the efficacy of LIT in RPL/RIF. It was also shown that LIT is more beneficial when it is given, both before and during pregnancy.
