Clinical Signsnger animals are more susceptible. Clinical signs caused by LSDV were demonstrated to be much more severe in high-producing dairy breeds such as Holstein Friesian cattle compared to indigenous breeds (Davies 1991; Tageldin et al. 2014).

Propagation of the Virus In Vitrol types include cells from tissues, including the kidney, testes, adrenal, thyroid, skin and muscle. There are currently no cell culture systems which can differentiate lumpy skin disease from sheeppox and goatpox. The tropism and the cytopathic effect for all the evaluated cells are identical between capripoxviruses.

Unfortunately, following vaccination with several of the currently available vaccines, in many times only low or undetectable levels of virus neutralizing antibodies are elicited.
