Major World Fishing Nations figures for fisheries worldwide. Total world fish catch has increased from about 22 mmt in 1938 to 96.9 mmt in 1991 exclusive of marine mammals and aquatic plants. These FAO statistics show a fourfold increase in production during this time (Table 10.1).
