Operators in Quantum Mechanics and Model System IIsion of light–matter interaction phenomena. As a second model system, the harmonic oscillator is discussed in terms of Heisenbergs matrix method as well as in terms of ladder operators. The results are used to illustrate the idea of electromagnetic field quantization.

Simplest Model Treatment of the Classical Interaction of Light with Matteractions. After a short introduction to the two-body problem, a classical approach to light emission and absorption is presented. Characteristic absorption frequencies or wavelength is estimated in terms of simple model assumptions.
