Non-Linearity of APDs at High Count Rates APD non-linearity, and the way each distorts a reference pulse, will be discussed. “Undercharged” APDs can cause distortion at quite low counts rates, and dead-time effects can cause distortion at count rates which approach the inverse recharge time.
