Principles of Quantum Mechanics,During the years 1925–1927, quantum mechanics took shape and accumulated successes. But three persons, and not the least, addressed the question of its structure. In Zürich there was Erwin Schr?dinger, in G?ttingen David Hilbert, and in Cambridge Paul Adrien Maurice Dirac.

Approximation Methods,In quantum mechanics the number of problems for which there exist analytical solutions is rather restricted. In general one must resort to approximation methods. In this chapter, we present two of these methods: perturbation theory and the variational method. We are mainly interested in applications.
