Galvanic-Coulometric Detectors in Gas Chromatography,dation of one molecule means stripping it of 14 × 4 + 10 × 1 = 66 electrons. Thus, a stream of fewer than 100 molecules per sec of this compound is detectable in principle. In the case of compounds with more carbon and hydrogen atoms in the molecule, the sensitivity in these terms is higher still, compensating for their lesser volatility.
