IR Laser Absorption Spectroscopy of Local Modes of the H- Ion in Pure and Rare-Earth-Doped CaF2dral symmetry. The crystal shows strong IR absorption due to localized modes of the hydride ion. In CaF. crystals doped with trivalent rare-earth ions the H. can serve as a charge compensator for the impurity ions. In this role it replaces the corresponding fluorine ions in interstitial lattice sites [5].

Raman Scattering Study of the Phase Transitions in (NH4)2Cd2(SO4)3h decreases exponentially on lowering the temperature further. The sudden jump in ε(0) is accompanied by a paraelectric-ferroelectric phase transition with the appearance of a constant spontaneous polarization [5].
