Fine Structure of the 3-Dimensional Transition Region in the Wake behind a Thin-Shell Cylinder Placenstream and this brought the gradual distortion of the anti-symmetrical profiles of the fundamental component. Measurements on the phase distributions in streamwise and azimuthal directions indicate a helical wave motion. The cycles of the present helical wave motion are different from that of an axismmetric slender body with full core.

In-FIight Measurements on a Laminar Wing Glove by Means of Surface Sensor Arraystransition with a 48-sensor array on a motor-glider. The first array was primarily used for the detection of transition location and dynamic effects during transition, while the second array was aimed on measuring the expansion and development of an artificial excitation induced by a harmonic point source.

Transition to Turbulence in Pipe Flowtative method for measuring instantaneous velocity fields whereas a technique like laser Doppler anemometry is only a one-point measurement technique. DPIV can be used to study the transition to turbulence in detail and it might well prove to be a useful tool in gaining more insight into the transition processes.

Subcritical Disturbance Growth Caused by Hairpin Eddiessturbance growth due to regeneration of hairpin eddies is found to be about 130 ~ 150 (based on the momentum thickness). Even when the energetic hairpin eddies are introduced, however, the regeneration of the hairpin eddies occurs only along a narrow strip (extending downstream from the orifice) at the subcritical Reynolds numbers.
