The Dynamical Systems Theory Approach to Transport and Mixing in Fluids,consisting of a point fixed vortex embedded in a time-periodic background flow, is considered and analyzed. Dynamical, topological, and statistical properties of chaotic advection of fluid particles are explained in detail.
