Bone Marrow Edema, be used to provide an additional healing stimulus. In BMLs not responding to the overmentioned therapies, or in highly demanding patients, surgical treatment should be considered to provide a structural support to the subchondral bone while promoting bone self-healing response.

Functional Anatomy of Cartilage and Subchondral Bone in the Joint,ed of cells and extracellular matrix that constantly adapt to their local biological and mechanical environments. Alterations in the architecture, biomechanics, or physiology of any individual constituents of this unit can lead to disturbance of joint integrity and ultimately loss of function.
