Flow-Induced Spatio-Temporal Dynamics in Directional Solidification,This state consists of travelling waves when the flow destabilizes the morphology. Nonlinear theory and numerical simulations demonstrate that the flow induces rich spatio-temporal dynamics. The effects of nonequilibrium thermodynamics and attachment kinetics are discussed.

A Strongly Nonlinear Analysis of Morphological Stability of a Binary Alloy: Solutal Convection and how this approach is useful in providing a simplified description of the dynamics of the system in the fully nonlinear regime. In particular we emphasise the physical mechanisms that can be revealed by this approach.

Interaction of Thermal and Forced Convection with the Growth of Dendritic Crystals,lane of ice crystals split in quiescent melts, at undercoolings less than 0.35°K. Then the tip regenerates itself, and the growth velocity remains invariant during this entire event. The causes of tip splitting are believed to be thermal convection and the lack of anisotropy in the basal plane.

Flow Interactions with Dendritic Mushy Zones,he melt and can either develop into independent equiaxed grains or remelt. Preliminary results indicate that the velocity of the flow dramatically alters the mushy zone causing both a change in the amount of fragmentation and the fragmentation rate.

Morphological Stability and Convective Flow: Some Old and New Problems,this paper, the theory of coupling between natural convection and morphological instability is briefly reviewed together with some relevant experimental evidence. Ways in which the theory might be usefully extended to include the effects of additional control parameters which could advantageously affect morphological stability are indicated.
