描述Technology is a dynamic field in which new developments take place continuously. Education traditionally lacks behind the latest developments in this subject area. Therefore it is necessary to consider updating education regularly. The NATO Advanced Research Workshop "Integrating Advanced Technology into Technology Education" discussed necessary changes in technology education caused by new developments in technology. It was held in Eindhoven, The Netherlands, October 9-12, 1990. Our impression is that there was a fruitful interaction between educationalists, policy makers, and industrialists. These groups all have their own way of approaching technology education and the conference gave them an opportunity for sharing ideas that come from these various approaches. The participants felt that the issue of integrating advanced technology into technology education was quite relevant. There was a high degree of commitment in presentations and discussions. This led to the formulation of a number of recommendations to people in NATO countries who are involved in technology education. The Evolution of Current Practice in Technology Educationdesign and art, science, STS, industry) account for currect practice in primary and secondary schools. The discussion looks back over the last hundred years at how the traditions have developed and interacted. A plea for a more sophisticated view of curriculum change is made.

Contemporary Technology: A Philosophic Viewack of a common language and conceptual portrayals of technology has made the international sharing of efforts in technology education difficult. The inadequate conceptualization of technology has also made it difficult to identify relationships between technology education and other school subjects

The Relationship Between Science and Technology in the School Entitlement Curriculumical awareness should be complemented by development of scientific and technological capability. Effective relationship in the curriculum must take account of the distinctive ways of knowing in scientific and technological activity and of children’s ways of learning.

The Role of Technology Education as an Integrating Disciplinee science-technology treaty seems to be absent in the school subject technology. There are several ways of helping pupils to understand the science-technology relationship, ., by paying explicit attention to it in technology education. This is essential for teaching the nature of advanced technology
