Highly Efficient Jet Ventilationermines O. and CO. diffusion. The ventilation is adjusted in such a way that the required gas exchange corresponds to the momentary transmembranous pressure. In the alveoli the transmembranous pressure is zero. There are only minor pressure fluctuations-otherwise the membranes would be damaged.

Magnetic Resonance Imaging of the Peridural Spacetment of pain by means of peridural opiate analgesia, for analgesia during labour, for surgical treatment, and when muscle relaxation is necessary. The patient can be awake or sedated, or a combination can be obtained with general anaesthia, and postoperative pain can be controlled.

The Closed-Circuit — A Perfect Anesthesia and Monitoring Unitbenefit accrues to the patient when, in the induction phase, the anesthesia is continued with another agent (e.g., halothane) instead of using the thiopental, Ketanest, or Hypnomidate remaining in the syringe. The integrative function of central control mechanisms is expressed by parameters which to some extent can also be recorded in man. Using these measurements, we have developed methods of analysis which allow conclusions concerning the organization of central control systems and their mutual interaction.
