描述Modem dynamics is increasingly participating in the solution of problems raised by as- tronomical observations. This new relationship is being fostered on one side by the im- provements in the observations, which in recent years contributed several discoveries of new systems, such as the objects in the Kuiper belt, the pulsar and star companions, to speak only of the most striking ones, and, on the other hand, by the progresses in modem dynamics. The progresses in modem dynamics are due to two factors: the dissemination of fast computers, allowing the numerical studies of very complex systems by a large number of scientists, and the improvement in our understanding of the complex behaviour of Hamiltonian systems. KAM and Nekhorochev theories have shed a light on the subtle and surprizing interplays between regular and chaotic motions; numerical experiments and analytical approximations have shown how these peculiarities are indeed present in astronomically important systems and are instrumental in understanding their formation and evolution.

The Use of Geocentric Variables to Search for Meteoroid Streams and Their ParentsA set of geocentric variables suitable for the identification of meteoroid streams has been recently proposed and successfully applied to photographic meteor orbits. We describe these variables and the secular invariance of some of them, and discuss their use to improve the search for meteoroid stream parents.

Periodic Orbits Around a Massive Straight SegmentIn this paper, we consider the motion of a particle under the gravitational field of a massive straight segment This model is used as an approximation to the gravitational field of irregular shaped bodies, such as asteroids, comet nuclei and planets’s moons. For this potential, we find several families of periodic orbits and bifurcations.

Bianchi Cosmologies as Dynamical Systemsianchi class A cosmological models. We introduce new variables in which the Hamiltonian constraint for all the class A models is solved algebraically. We present results of dimension reduction of the investigated models.

Trojans in Stable Chaotic Motionper elements. For each time interval we compared the root mean squares of the orbital elements (a, e and i) with the corresponding proper element It turned out that the variations of the proper elements .. in the different time intervals are correlated with the corresponding r.m.s.(e); this is not the case for sin .. with r.m.s.(i).
