Edge Detection in 2D Images,This chapter describes first the preprocessing of the image necessary for a successful edge detection. It consists of noise reduction with the Sigma filter and of sharpening the edges with the extreme filter. A new algorithm for edge detection is described. It is faster and more precise than the known algorithms.
