Introduction,establishes the plant’s identity; more often, it is necessary to recognize a unique combination of characteristics. For plant identification, the most valuable characteristics are those least likely to be affected by changes in environment; if the feature is uncommon as well as stable, it is even more useful.

Sunn Hemp,t important commercially is C. . which is grown as a fibre crop. Most sunn hemp is grown in India where there are three main varieties, White, Genjan and Dewghuddy. The quality of the fibre is very variable.

Kenaf, vary in the form and colour of their leaves, stems, flowers and seeds and in their response to soil conditions, climatic condition and day length, as well as in the quality and yield of the fibre which they produce. It is not difficult for growers to select plants which are suitable for local conditions.

Roselle, of roselle examined are of more even quality than those of kenaf. It is possible that growers do not always differentiate clearly between the two species. In India, the common names ‘Mesta’ and ‘Bimli’ are used for both crops.
