Protocols on Lipid Extraction from Wet Algal Biomass,solvent penetration. While the chloroform/methanol-based Bligh and Dyer method may give higher lipid recovery yields, the use of safer solvents and in particular solvent combinations, such as a mixture of hexane and ethanol, may be more suitable for large-scale extraction.
