Open Channel Transitions,itical transitions present problems of wave formation.Formulations are presented for the shock wave front direction and height for straight wall transitions and the variation of depth along the wall in curvilinear transitions.A graphical method for designing straight wall transitions to suppress wave propagation is presented.

Culverts,is quantified for unsubmerged and submerged inlets, and for different box and circular inlet geometries.Outlet control may also occur with the inlet and outlet being submerged or unsubmerged.The analysis procedure is outlined, with application to pipe and box sections.

Flow-Measuring Structures,r weirs, broad-crested weirs and Crump weirs with horizontal and V-shaped crests.A general formulation for flumes is presented, followed by design details for the Parshall and cutthroat flumes.A procedure is described for estimating the discharge error in terms of the water level measurement error.
