Parallel Imaging,isition. The imaging time for all fast sequences depends crucially on the strength and switching rate of the frequency gradient and the phase encoding gradient. Very rapid switching of strong gradient fields may lead to irritation of nerve cells. This sets physiological limits to ever stronger and faster gradient systems.
