SMBS in the Case of Exciting Radiation with a Broad Spectrumring line (δv.). The width of this line in compressed gases is frequently smaller than 10. cm. (30 MHz). Since the spectrum of high-power lasers usually subtends over a wider band it is important to ascertain in practice how the width of the pump section influences the stimulated scattering.

Providing undisputed evidence of the anomalous character of the processes occurring in the plasma corona, the described results make it possible in a number of cases to identify exactly the mechanism of the interaction of high-power radiation with a plasma.

At the same time, for practical applications greatest interest attaches to operation of an amplifier in the saturation regime, when a considerable fraction of the exciting light is scattered. In this chapter we investigate the influence of the saturation effect on the amplification of light in SMBS.
