Overview of Pipelined ADCs,mediate analog and digital data are both pipelined over multiple clock cycles. Pipelining allows these stages to operate concurrently, improving the ADC throughput, and also allows the construction of a higher resolution ADC using lower resolution building blocks, as discussed in this chapter.

Correcting Pipelined ADC Errors,. discussed the impact different impairments in the pipelined stage have on the output residue and on the ADC output. Both DAC and gain mismatch affect the ADC’s linearity, which result in higher-order harmonics, and this chapter touches on both the estimation and correction of such mismatches.

Comparator Design, the design requirements of the sub-ADC are relaxed. However, comparator metastability impacts the ADC error rates, and its impulse sensitivity function can affect its dynamic metrics, as discussed in this chapter.
