Manufacturing,Nitrogen is a volatile element and causes manufacturing problems to HNS not encountered in comparable carbon grades. One is to get the nitrogen into the steel, another to keep it there during high temperature processing. Therefore new procedures have been developed or adjusted to make, shape and treat HNS.
