Role of Lipogenesis and Lipid Desaturases in Non-alcoholic Fatty Liver Disease,evelopment. A special focus will be made on desaturases especially the stearoyl CoA desaturase 1, a central enzyme implicated in fatty liver disease as well as on the delta 5 and delta 6 desaturases, two enzymes involved in the synthesis of omega 3 and omega 6 fatty acids.

Role of the Endocannabinoid System in Hepatic Lipogenesis,f marijuana. The endocannabinoid system, consisting of endocannabinoids (eCBs), their receptors, and the enzymes involved in their biosynthesis and degradation, is present in many tissues including the liver. The present chapter reviews accumulating evidence that the eCB system is involved in the regulation of de novo hepatic lipogenesis.
