Does Just Noticeable Difference Depend on the Rate of Change of Kinesthetic Force Stimulus?e recorded haptic responses to estimate the best fit linear decision boundary between the JND and the rate of change of the stimulus. Our results show that the JND decreases for faster change in the stimulus. We also demonstrate an asymmetric behavior of perception between increasing and decreasing cases.

Perceptual Evaluation of the Passive/Active Torque and Stiffness Asymmetry of a Hybrid Haptic Deviceof the compression stiffness or torque respectively, users did not perceive the asymmetry in 80?% of trials. This suggests that hybrid devices can present dissimilar active/passive torque or stiffness capabilities without affecting the perception of elasticity.

Roughness Modulation of Real Materials Using Electrotactile Augmentationrent nerves at the middle phalanx of a finger is described. We conducted a user study in which participants were requested to rate the roughness of real materials that were explored using the system. The results indicated that participants could perceive the modulated fine- and macro-roughness via the electrotactile augmentation.

Evaluating Virtual Embodiment with the ALEx Exoskeleton a new lightweight exoskeleton (ALEx) with a focus on the perception of danger and aggressive behavior. In particular an experiment has been designed assessing the effectiveness of haptic feedback while interacting with an opponent avatar. Experiments are evaluated based on physiological measures and questionnaires.

Knut Drewing,Onno Krusethe classification performance obtained using acoustic cues and conversational cues shows that the emotions: flow and boredom are better captured in acoustics than conversational cues while conversational cues play a more important role in multiple-emotion classification.
