Juliette Bridgette Milner-Thorntonther cells in order to advance hair cell regeneration research in adult mammals. Emphasis is on gain- and loss-of-function tools for gene manipulation in vivo using CRISPR/Cas and CreER/lox. Complementary strategies using virus-mediated gene transfer, small interfering RNA, antisense oligonucleotides, and microRNAs are also presented.
