Amphisbaenians,ment of the scales into annuli resembling the rings around the body of an earthworm. In the Squamata there is a tendency for one of the lungs to be reduced. In those lizards where this occurs and in the snakes it is the left lung that is reduced, but in the amphisbaenians it is the right.
