Particle Physics and GravitationIn the previous chapter it was seen how modern theories of gravity attach considerable importance to gauge (or scale) invariance. In the present chapter, attention will be directed towards gauge invariance in elementary particle theory and ways in which particle physics might be connected up with gravitation.

Discussiond particle physics, it is the purpose of the present chapter to discuss a little more fully how these topics relate to each other and to examine some subjects which affect all of the aforementioned fields. The two main subjects in the latter class are gravity experiments and the type of scale invariance known as self-similarity.
