Glycolipids of Higher Plants, Algae, Yeasts, and Fungi,also been detected in both photosynthetic and nonphotosynthetic tissues. Other minor components are the 6-acyl-monogalactosylDAG (structure .′ (Fig. 3-1), and the 6-acyl-digalactosylDAG (structure .′) (Fig. 3-1), which may, however, be artifacts formed by reversible enzymatic acyl transfer from di- to monogalactosylDAG (see Section 3.8.1.4.).

Synthesis of Glycoglycerolipids,artially synthetic methods are available for the preparation of these lipids containing saturated and unsaturated fatty acids, which also allow the introduction of fatty acids with isotopic, fluorescence, or spin labeling, providing glycosyldiacylglycerols useful for physical studies on membranes.
