Glycoproteins of the Synaptosomal Plasma Membranele techniques for isolating highly purified neuronal plasma membranes, studies of their glycoproteins have been limited to the results of Brunngraber et al. (6–8), indicating that subcellular fractions enriched in synaptosomal plasma membrane are also enriched in protein-bound carbohydrate.

The Isolation and Characterization of Synaptosomal Plasma Membranesnfortunately, despite the proliferation of papers in this field, these fractions have never been thoroughly characterized enzymatically and chemically. We therefore decided to attempt to isolate one of these fractions, the synaptosomal plasma membrane, in a form suitable for further study of its composition.
