Relativistic Correlations in Atomsd experiment are due to many-body effects and are never masked by uncertainties in the constituent-interaction (needless to say, we leave out the very small hadronic contributions to atomic structure).

Giant Resonances in Atoms and in Fluorine Cage Moleculeshenomena (Fomichev et al. 1967, Dehmer et al. 1971) earlier investigations of giant resonances in atoms were limited to the more managable elements which precede the transition rows, the inert gases, alkali and alkaline earth elements.

This will naturally lead to a number of different views and interpretations of the same phenomenon, and even to different “schools” of thought.

Giant Resonance Phenomena in the Electron Impact Ionization of Heavy Atoms and Ionsures arise from the double well nature of the scattering potential and have recently been identified in the cross sections for the electron impact ionization of several xenon-like ions.. In the present report, we summarize the results of calculations showing similar effects for a variety of other ions.
