Maize Storage Proteins: Characterization and Biosynthesisrop and mutations affecting both the quantitative and qualitative synthesis of maize storage proteins have been identified (Mertz et al., 1964; Nelson et al., 1965). Our research in the last several years has been devoted to the characterization of these storage proteins and the reactions regulating their biosynthesis.

Contrasting Patterns of DNA Sequence Organization in Plantsable shows that plants frequently have much more repetitive DNA than most animals (reviewed in Thompson and Murray, 1979). Therefore it seems logical to view plant genomes as particularly favorable material for studies on the origin and evolution of repeated sequences.

Structural Gene Expression in Tobaccoly reviews current information regarding DNA sequence organization and expression in the tobacco plant. In addition, new data are summarized which show that mRNA sequence sets are strikingly regulated in major plant tissues and that post-transcriptional selection mechanisms play a central role in the regulation of gene expression in plants.
