The Nitrogen Fixation Cistrons of ,,ility to fix nitrogen, thus confirming linkage of . and .. A short time later, they showed that the . genes could be transferred by conjugation from .. . to .. . C, a strain that normally doesn’t fix nitrogen (Dixon and Postgate, 1972).
