What Are Comet and Reverse Ajax?,The problem of obtaining upper and lower bounds for eigenvalues for regular Sturm-Liouville problems is considered in this paper. The goal is to find bounds in terms of integrals of the coefficients and avoid the use of pointwise bounds. The general weighted problem is studied.

On the other hand if the index . is allowed to “jump”, then each eigenvalue can be embedded in an eigenvalue “branch” which is not only continuous but differentiable.
