Delivery of Nerve Growth Factor Within the Rat Brain Using Genetically Modified Cells, system. Intracerebral grafts of nerve growth factor-producing fibroblasts have been used to assess the regenerative capacities of select neuronal populations within the damaged adult rat brain. Our data reveal that this trophic factor is a necessary requirement to sustain neurons following axotomy.
