Analysis of Chitin and Chitosan, establish the mode of inheritance of individual mutants but little on the possible linkage relationships between the mutants. A general account of mink genetics is provided by Shackleford (1957). The value of mink as a laboratory animal is discussed by Padget, Gorham, and Henson (1968).

Rabbitins a useful research animal for a variety of topics. Some 45–50 mutant gene/loci have been reported, of which 34 have been employed in studies of independent assortment and linkage. A detailed collation of early work is presented by Robinson (1956).
