Thermal Comfort and Passive Design,We have detected RR Lyrae variables in a halo field 40’ SE of the nucleus of M31. A preliminary analysis of the data for 7 variables yields (m-M). ? 24.2, in good agreement with previous estimates.

Recent CCD Observations of Cepheids in Nearby Galaxies: A Progress Report,New . CCD data for previously known Cepheids in the the nearby galaxies IC 1613, NGC 6822, M31, M33, WLM, NGC 300, Sextans A and NGC 2403 have been obtained. A method for determining distances and mean reddenings, utilizing the data at four wavelength bands, is discussed.
