Amino Acid Sequence and Spectroscopic Studies of Dutch Elm Disease Toxin, Cerato-ulminRaman spectra show that the protein contains about 15% alpha-helix and about 50% beta-sheet. The Raman spectra also revealed no evidence for an S-H stretching vibration near 2580 cm. but an intense S-S stretching mode is apparent at 514 cm.. Thus all eight cysteine residues are linked in disulfide bonds.
