The Behavior of Transforms, the transforms can do, and what they cannot do. The question is a deep one. The known characterizations are neither subtle nor powerful. Indeed, it appears that the property of being a transform is not truly reducible. This Chapter treats three aspects of transform behavior. Foundations of Clinical DiagnosisThe question, whether the union of two Helson sets is a Helson set, resisted answering for some time. S. W. Drury and N. Th. Varopoulos solved the problem in 1970, and we now know that if . = . ∪ . where . and . are Helson subsets of ., then.One may still hope for simpler proofs and better inequalities.
