From Erlang to ElixirThe language Erlang was inspired by Prolog’s logical programming and concrete architectural requirements at Eriksson. Joe Armstrong has written a paper called History of Erlang, which describes in detail the evolution of the language from the perspectives of the creators and the company that sponsored the creation of the language.
