While such tools support environmental planning for oceans and coasts, they do have shortcomings, mentioned herein, and their products are usually the starting points of discussions about planning scenarios and options.

Pollution Prevention for Oceans and Coastsr. Programs and regulations aimed at prevention addressing these and other sources of pollution are continually developing – but the challenges are great. Marine pollution is both persistent and widespread and, as such, poses many challenges for planners.
