Modes of Occurrence of Environmentally-Sensitive Trace Elements in Coal, and devices are used by the coal industry to minimise the release of these elements. Selective mining and coal cleaning procedures reduce the amount of the inorganic constituents in coal prior to combustion. Electrostatic precipitators, chemical additives, baghouses, and flue-gas scrubbers reduce particulate and element emissions after combustion.
