Linear Programming,es fail if the graph of the function is discontinuous or kinked (has undefined slope) or if the constraints are stated not as equations but as inequalities or if the number of constraints is greater than the number of variables. Furthermore, we considered local, instead of global, extrema only.

https://doi.org/10.1007/978-3-8349-8649-8lem now becomes vastly more difficult than the linear programming one. The relaxation of the assumption of linearity greatly increases the difficulty in computation, and the scope and range of topics are much wider and more varied.
