Management of EFM,Uterine contraction (UC) (Fig. 2.1) is the main force of labor and occurs throughout labor. Post-parturient UC shortens the cervical canal until it disappears, dilates the uterine orifice, makes fetal presentation descend, and promotes the delivery of the fetus and placenta. Post-parturient UC is manifested as labor pains.

Fetal Acid-Base Balance,A transient or mild fluctuation in the fetal oxygen content usually has no impact on fetal acid-base balance. The autoregulation of the acid-base balance and the normal placental function constantly keep fetal blood gas in a state of dynamic balance, as such acid-base balance disorders will not occur.
