Application of Enzymatic Reactions Involving Electron Transfer and Energy Supply for the Production for the introduction of hydroxyl groups into unsaturated fatty acid are discussed. The use of baker’s yeast cells as energy supply system for carbon-carbon bond formation by aldol condensation reaction is also described. The development of these enzyme systems will bring a breakthrough in future bioprocess development in chemical industry.

Fatty Acid Production from Xylose by Xylose-Assimilating Thraustochytrid and Cellular NADPH/NADP+ Baylose flow to pentose phosphate pathway, energy flow, and NADPH generation for fatty acid synthesis were activated in the adapted cells to xylose. The ratio of NADPH/NADP. in cells was increased by the activation of NADPH generation in xylose-adapted cells.
