Richard Guserl,Helmut Pernsteinerdiffraction analyses. It is shown that the non-polar surfaces of the tetrahedrally coordinated materials (zincblende and wurtzite structure) are terminated to within 0.1 ? of ideal lattice positions of the terminating ions. Alternatively, LEED symmetry studies alone indicate that the polar faces are never ideally terminated.
