Artifactserved using both transthoracic and transesophageal echocardiography, including with three-dimensional echocardiography. Linear and mirror artifacts are the most commonly encountered. If incorrectly interpreted, artifacts may result in inadequate therapeutic management with potentially devastating consequences.
